Residential Boarding Schools

To most people living in the United States the concept of sending one's child away to school is a little alien and rather strange. In Europe and especially in England the boarding school has been part of the culture for centuries and is considered rather the normal. The same applies in countries where there are small town scattered over a large area with only a single large school being able to service everyone. Since it would cost too much or it is much too far to commute each day, the children are sent to board at the school during terms. There are many different types of boarding schools such as the residential boarding school but there are many others.

The basic premise behind a boarding school is quite simple. The school has on its premises dormitories and other buildings that are used by the boarding children. Each dormitory has a member of the staff appointed to watch over the children and they are essentially the person that the children go to when they require something or if something is wrong outside of school hours. The other buildings that available may differ between different schools but there is usually a dining hall where children take their meals and a study hall where they can do their homework and such. The lives of the children are generally strictly ordered according to a timetable with meals being at a certain time, study times being set out and a set time existing for lights out. While this is the general gist with normal boarding schools, residential boarding schools and other types of boarding schools differ in various degrees.

The usual boarding school that is described above is a type of residential school but not all residential schools are of the same mold. There are other forms of residential schools that exist. Therapeutic schools provide clinical services for student that have disabilities or are suffering from some other condition like substance dependence. Some residential boarding schools cater for students with special needs. This does not mean only disabled children but any student that may require extra attention and care. Some residential schools are specialist schools like choir or drama schools. Of course, the other obvious example is the prevalence of dormitories or residences at colleges and universities - though in the classic British tradition these are not really considered boarding schools since the inhabitants can mostly take care of themselves.

There both supporters and detractors for residential boarding schools. The supporters cite that the boarding school offers a stable place for the students to learn where they can socialize with others their age. Detractors are against the strict ruling of a child's life their general lack of freedom. These schools have been around for nearly 500 years in form or another. Some have long traditions and much prestige behind their names while others prefer a more casual approach. For some these are the perfect institutions and for others they are the remnants of an old empire. What do you think?

Body:

Young women are preoccupied with their appearances because of the American culture. Society is focusing on “lookism”. Everything from toothpaste to homes is advertised with some kind of sex appeal. Your daughter is bombarded with the pressure of looking “in”. Because of this preoccupation with “fitting-in”, most young women are depriving their bodies of the nutrients it needs. They have poor eating habits or addictions that prevent their bodies from being healthy. We help your daughter to value herself and to find the beauty that lies within her. We will provide your daughter with pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements to help cleanse and rebuild her cells, and a high protein, complex carbohydrate diet that will aid in the healing process. This nutritional support will decrease mood swings, help curb addictions, and provide her with long term benefits for her arrival home.

Soul:

Struggling teens are constantly battling to “belong to something”. Our culture has become one of
gangs, cliques, clubs, and cults. The cost to join is changing your daughter’s values and moral beliefs.
Girls desperately need something or someone to believe in, and someone to believe in them. We will gently guide her into a relationship with God and help her open her heart to His kindness in the serenity of His creation. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous have demonstrated and proven that this is the only approach for long term success in overcoming behavioral issues.
